What it is

Seems to check if a trusted application needs an update and downloads it.

This package probably does more than that. There is a LOT of lines of code (obfuscated obviously)

It was used to push an update to fix a security issue with the fingerprint sensor in 2019.

Seems to be only used for biometrics stuff

There is Samsung analytics inside. You may want to remove it if you don't use biometrics authentication.

Commands

adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.samsung.android.tadownloader

To put it back:

adb shell cmd package install-existing com.samsung.android.tadownloader

Every removal listed here is per-user only: the system image is untouched, and the restore command puts the app back from the copy already on the device. Nothing is downloaded.

This is not the directory. Here we say what a package is in general; what happens on your particular television is on your model's entry, and that one wins. The same package can be dead weight on one set and hold the home screen up on another.
