Provider of media files (images, videos and such).

Scans the device for media files and allows permitted apps access to them.

Content providers encapsulate data, providing centralized management of data shared between apps.

Careful: Breaks features related to media storage (images, videos, music, etc.) if disabled

This package does not come off. It is part of the system core, and removing it leaves the device unusable or stuck in a boot loop. It is listed so you can recognise it, not so you can touch it.
